The Equality Unit drives continued efforts to achieve equality for Victoria’s diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex and queer communities.
Everyone deserves to feel celebrated and supported. Unfortunately, many LGBTIQA+ Victorians still face stigma and discrimination, which contributes to them being more likely to experience a range of challenges, including poor mental health and wellbeing.
We are committed to removing discrimination from Victorian laws, services and society more broadly.
We also promote inclusion and celebrate diversity, including by developing whole-of-government policies and programs which support LGBTIQA+ communities.
And we work closely with the Commissioner for LGBTIQ+ Communities and are supported by a Ministerial LGBTIQ+ Taskforce. They help us hear the rich voices of diverse LGBTIQA+ communities across the state, so we can work in partnership towards achieving equality for all.
