Sandy Pitcher is the Secretary of the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
Sandy has had an extensive public sector career, holding senior executive roles in the Victorian, South Australian, and Commonwealth and British public sectors.
In Victoria, Sandy has been the Deputy Secretary for Case, Contact Tracing and Outbreak Management at DHHS, the Deputy Secretary, Higher Education and Skills at the Department of Education and Training and also led engagement with university leadership in the early phase of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Sandy has been a chair and board member of a number of non-government organisations and University boards in the areas of environment, children’s rights, research and gender equality.
Sandy also brings public listed company industry experience from her role as Executive Consultant in an ASX 100 mining company, OZ Minerals. Prior to this role, Sandy served as the Chief Executive of the Department of Environment, Water and National Resources in South Australia for three years and as Deputy Chief Executive at the Department of Premier and Cabinet in South Australia for five years.
Sandy was raised in Mannum, a country town in South Australia and has degrees in law and the humanities from the University of Adelaide.
