LGBTIQA+ Equality

Achieving equality for Victoria's diverse LGBTIQA+ communities.

The Equality portfolio drives continued efforts to achieve equality for Victoria's diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer and asexual (LGBTIQA+) communities.

Everyone deserves to feel celebrated and supported. Despite this, many LGBTIQA+ Victorians still face stigma and discrimination. This contributes to them being more likely to experience a range of challenges, including poor mental health and wellbeing.

We promote inclusion and celebrate diversity, including by developing whole-of-government policies and programs which support LGBTIQA+ communities. We are committed to removing discrimination from Victorian laws, services and society.

Our work includes the work of the Victorian Commissioner for LGBTIQA+ Communities and is supported by Ministerial LGBTIQA+ Taskforce and Working Groups. They help us hear the rich voices of diverse LGBTIQA+ communities across the state, so we can work in partnership towards achieving equality for all.
