October 26 is Intersex Awareness Day!

Respect and recognise our intersex communities, today and every day.
24 October 2025

Intersex Awareness Day is all about learning more about the lived experiences of intersex people.

Intersex people are born with natural variations in sex characteristics, which can include chromosomes, hormones and/or genitals.

These traits typically don’t fit the typical definition of male or female.

Too often, intersex people face stigma, discrimination, and medical interventions without consent. October 26 is a chance to focus on continuing advocacy and education for intersex individual rights, physical autonomy and self-determination.

Take the day to learn, support and raise awareness of Victoria’s intersex community. They deserve our respect and support, and to be celebrated for who they are.
