New podcast: Media, emergencies and mental health

A new episode of Road to Resilience is now available.
13 April 2026

This episode of Road to Resilience explores how we consume media information before, during and after emergencies.

It will help listeners identify:

  • when consumption of media coverage might be impacting wellbeing
  • misinformation and disinformation
  • practical ways to curate or manage information to protect mental health, promote positive information sourcing and community connectedness.

The episode reminds us that during an emergency, we can get information from official channels. This includes the VicEmergency mobile phone app and website, along with many emergency broadcasters.

It guides people navigating the aftermath of emergencies and other traumatic events.

Listeners will hear about how our consumption of media might need to change over time. For instance, it offers advice about preparing for events like anniversaries.

The episode also dives into the positive impact of media reporting, and how re-engaging in storytelling is an important part of recovery.

The podcast also provides links to available services and resources.
