The Victorian Government has launched a new guide to help your community engagement be more inclusive and accessible to everyone.
The Better practice guide for inclusive community engagement is designed to be used before, during and after your engagement. It provides practical tools and strategies to ensure you are reaching communities, including:
- multicultural communities
- First Nations people
- people with disability
- young and older Victorians
- people experiencing social and economic disadvantage.
Developed in consultation with community engagement experts and representatives from the sector, the guide shows what better practice can look like in this space.
It encourages community engagement practitioners to plan early, be clear about scope, build trust and remove barriers to participation. It can show you how to design your engagement process to consider community needs and aspirations at every step.
