The new Children and Young People-Focused MARAM Practice Guides and tools are now available.
The resources are for people that work with children and young people. The new resources complement and work alongside existing MARAM guidance.
They help identify wellbeing and family violence risk for children and young people aged 0 to 25 years.
They support professionals to work with:
- children and young people to identify and respond to wellbeing needs
- children and young people who experience family violence from a family member
- young people who experience violence in a relationship or dating
- young people using family violence at home or in relationships.
The resources include new content on culturally safe and inclusive practice for working with Aboriginal children and young people and their families.
The resources respond to evidence that children and young people need opportunities to have their own experiences of risk, safety and wellbeing heard directly.
Young people using family violence require a different response to adults because of their age, development and the possibility that they may also be victim survivors in their own right.
The new Practice Guides and tools will support professionals to observe, listen and have conversations with children and young people.
The Foundation Knowledge Guide has been updated with new content on children and young people. This includes content developed with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to support professionals work safely with Aboriginal people and Communities.
