The Victorian Government is investing almost $9.5 million in community organisations and large-scale providers. Funding will strengthen our food security system. It will also get healthy and culturally appropriate food relief where it’s needed most.
We are proud to announce recipients of the Community food security program.
Community food security program – Local grants:
- Almost $7 million will support 168 community and multicultural organisations. This includes neighbourhood houses.
- Funding will deliver food security initiatives that respond to community needs.
Twenty-nine First People-led organisations will receive Aboriginal community food security grants.
Funding is delivered in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO). VACCHO also provided additional funding into the program.
The Aboriginal community grants will help to:
- remove barriers to food relief access
- strengthen Aboriginal community partnerships
- support self-determination.
We’re also backing large-scale food relief providers. Funding will strengthen logistics and supply chains. It will also ensure food relief reaches the local communities that need it most.
Community food security program - Coordination fund:
- $2.5 million delivered to 9 large-scale food relief providers.
- Supporting projects that strengthen the state’s food relief networks, systems and infrastructure.
- Funded projects will service many areas across the state. This ensures Victorians in need can access food relief, regardless of where they live.
- This program is funded through the Community Support Fund.
