We welcome and support people of all genders. We are all different, and International Non-Binary People’s Day on 14 July is a chance for us to celebrate and respect the experiences of non-binary people.
Non-binary people are those whose gender sits outside of the binary of man or woman, or male and female. This can mean identifying with a mix of genders, or no gender at all.Non-binary people use many different pronouns, with some preferring the use of they/them.
This year as an ally, you can make a big difference by doing something as simple as sharing your pronouns. Sharing your pronouns signals to your colleagues and friends that you’re someone who’ll respect their pronouns too.
Allies can also help take the load off the LGBTIQA+ communities by bringing others on the allyship journey for example creating posts that celebrate gender as a spectrum using the non-binary flag.
If you're non-binary, you can use the hashtag #thisiswhatnonbinarylookslike to highlight that being non-binary doesn't need you to appear a certain way.
It takes people of all genders working together to stop gender-based discrimination and celebrate diversity so that everyone can be their authentic selves.
By working together, we can create more inclusive, kind and accepting communities for non-binary people.
