Happy Non-Binary People’s Day 2025!

Let’s celebrate non-binary people, today and every day.
14 July 2025

In Victoria, we welcome and support people of all genders. We are all different and International Non-Binary People’s Day is a chance for us to celebrate and respect the experiences of non-binary people.

What does non-binary mean?

Non-binary is a term for people whose gender does not fit neatly into the categories of man or woman or male and female.

A person who is non-binary might feel like they have a mix of genders, or like they have no gender at all. A person may identify as non-binary or relate to non-binary as an umbrella term and may use the pronouns such as they/them.

It takes people of all genders working together to stop gender-based discrimination and celebrate diversity so that people can be their authentic selves.

This year as an ally, you can make a big difference by doing something as simple as sharing your pronouns. Whether this be in the workplace or a social setting, it is an easy way to make sure that the process is normalised.

You can also learn more about how to use language respectfully and inclusively when working with and referring to LGBTIQA+ people and communities by reading our LGBTIQA+ inclusive language guide.

By working together, we can create more inclusive, kind and accepting communities for non-binary people.

This July 14 make sure to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of people of all genders in Victoria.
