Future Ready 2027-28 grants announced

Supporting Victorian secondary school students to unlock their potential.
22 October 2026

The Victorian Government is proud to be investing in more opportunities for young people to develop the skills they need to succeed.

The Future Ready grant program supports a range of activities, including:

  • mentoring support for students
  • recognised training, work-placement or volunteering
  • leadership opportunities
  • hands on learning and development opportunities.

Through the 2027-28 grant round, 37 organisations will share in $2.6 million to provide secondary students with opportunities to build skills and gain qualifications while opening avenues to career pathways.

Funded projects will take place from Term 1, 2027 to the end of Term 4, 2028.

This funding will also give more secondary students the  practical resources they need to transition from secondary school into paid work, volunteer roles or higher education.

Check out some of the projects selected:

nyarrn-gakgo mangki, delivered by Weenthunga Health Network, is a culturally informed, strengths-based leadership, wellbeing and pathways program supporting First Nations students from across Frankston, Darebin and Whittlesea. This project is also open to fellow students - friends and allies - to join opportunities, experiences and connections.

The Future Gen Pathway program will be delivered by Youth Projects in partnership with schools across Melbourne's west and northwest. It offers school-based group sessions for students in Years 10 to 12. The sessions will build confidence, teamwork, communication, job readiness, leadership and pathways knowledge.

The Ubuntu Project will deliver a culturally responsive mentoring, leadership and careers readiness initiative. It will reach African Australian secondary students across Moonee Valley and Melton

Rural Futures reaches young people living in regional areas. Activities will develop confidence, skills, employment and education pathways, and foster community participation. This is a youth-led partnership between Daylesford Secondary College and Clunes Neighbourhood House.
