Funding open to support Victoria’s unpaid carers

More than 750,000 Victorians provide unpaid care, support and connection to people they love every day.
17 September 2026

Unpaid carers play an essential role in our communities. They support family members, friends and loved ones who may need help because of disability, illness, mental health challenges, ageing or other circumstances.

The Victorian Government is proud to continue supporting unpaid carers through the Support for Carers Program 2027–2031.

Applications for the Support for Carers Program 2027-2031 are now open.

This program recognises that every carer’s experience is different.

Funding will support organisations to deliver tailored supports to Victorians with an unpaid care role. This helps them look after their health and wellbeing while they continue in their caring role.

Eligible organisations can apply for funding between $100,000 and $2 million per year over 4 years.

We are seeking applications from organisations with the experience, capacity, and capability needed to support unpaid carers.

The program encourages applications from First Nations organisations. We recognise the essential role of Aboriginal-led organisations in ensuring culturally responsive and self-determined approaches.
