Our nation-leading $23 million commitment to provide free pads and tampons across Victoria has rolled out vending machines in locations in all 79 local council areas.
Now more Victorians have easier access to free pads and tampons when and where they need them.
Free pads and tampons are available in over 1,000 machines across Victoria. More than 500,000 free packets of pads and tampons have been dispensed across the state.
They make a real difference. Providing free access to pads and tampons in public places helps more Victorians participate fully in their communities.
Because period products are not a luxury, and no one should ever feel embarrassed or excluded because of their period.
More free pads and tampons vending machines will be installed across Victoria in 2026. Locations include:
- staffed train stations
- public hospitals
- TAFEs
- public libraries
- major sports centres
- cultural institutions.
We are working towards up to 1,500 machines across the state by June 2026.
All local government areas were consulted and requested to nominate venues to ensure coverage across the state.
Now over 1,000 vending machines in more than 570 venues are already available across metropolitan Melbourne and right across regional Victoria. They have dispensed more than 500,000 period products and counting!
By making pads and tampons freely available across the state, this program is delivering important health and wellbeing supports to more of our communities.
