The Victorian Government has announced an $18 million package to increase the delivery of fresh and healthy food to people experiencing hardship and continue to back frontline food relief organisations.

This funding includes:

  • $9 million for the Victorian Government’s Community Food Relief Program, expected to open for applications mid-year.
  • $6 million for the Regional Food Security Alliance and six Regional Foodshares, located in Albury-Wodonga, Geelong, Bendigo, Shepparton, Mildura and Warrnambool.
  • $3 million over three years for Foodbank Victoria’s GROW program, rescuing surplus farm produce and diverting it to local community food relief programs.
  • $500,000 to support Foodbank to deliver more fresh and chilled food to regional and rural charity partners.

This funding will boost the capacity of food relief organisations and better coordinate the movement of food around the state, including to regional areas.

This additional funding increases the Victorian Government’s total food relief commitment to more than $74 million since 2020, providing hope and nourishment to individuals and families in need.
