The Community Food Relief Program funds projects that strengthen the state’s food supply networks and support locally led food relief activities.
The 2025-26 program has doubled its first-year investment to $9 million, helping more Victorians access nutritious, culturally appropriate food no matter where they live.
Funding is delivered across two streams: Local Grants and Coordination Grants.
The 2025-26 Local Grants will support 126 organisations to deliver local food relief and food security activities. This includes organisations working to reach Victorians experiencing the greatest need, such as:
- neighbourhood houses
- social enterprises
- volunteer-led groups
- First-Nations-led groups.
In addition, 7 statewide and regional food relief providers will receive Coordination Grants. These larger partnership projects will strengthen Victoria’s food relief networks and aim to improve the way food moves across the state - from donors, to providers, to families.
Coordination Grants include:
- Bendigo Foodshare will strengthen food supply in North West Victoria. It will improve its distribution system, adding a refrigerated vehicle, and supporting a new food relief service in Swan Hill.
- FareShare will work with the Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency to expand its Meals for the Mob program. This project will deliver nutritious, culturally appropriate meals to 5 Aboriginal communities across Victoria.
- Foodbank will partner with the Islamic Council of Victoria to deliver and test 4,000 culturally suitable meal kits for communities across Victoria.
Congratulations to all the successful recipients of the 2025-26 Community Food Relief Program.
This funding will continue to make a meaningful difference for Victorians experiencing food insecurity across the state.
