Foster carers play a vital role in our community. They open their hearts and homes to children and young people who cannot live with their family, providing them with a safe place to heal, grow and thrive.
The Victorian foster carer community does incredible work. However, more foster carers are needed.
You can become a foster carer and make a real difference to children and young people’s lives.
Who can become a foster carer?
Anyone aged 21 and over who can offer a child or young person a safe and caring environment, can apply to be a foster carer in Victoria.
There could be a foster care role that’s right for you whether you:
- have no previous experience of being a foster carer
- have some experience of being a foster carer
- have a large amount of caring experience and have cared for children or young people with higher complex needs.
