The Victorian Government will provide $1.1 million in funding to projects that educate, prevent, reduce and respond to family violence in Aboriginal communities across Victoria.
Projects selected for funding will support and address the priorities identified by the eleven Dhelk Dja Action Groups.
Projects must be Aboriginal-led and work towards:
- aligning with the Dhelk Dja Action Group goals and 10-year agreement - Dhelk Dja: Safe Our Way, 5 Strategic Priorities and Indigenous Family Violence Prevention Framework (2012) guiding principles
- strengthening local capacity to address family violence
- providing ongoing or long-term community benefits
- complimenting existing initiatives and fostering partnerships.
