The Victorian Government will provide $1.76 million in funding to projects that educate, prevent, reduce and respond to family violence in Aboriginal communities across Victoria. This includes $660,000 targeted specifically to Aboriginal-led prevention projects.
Projects selected for funding will support and address the priorities identified by the eleven Dhelk Dja Action Groups.
Projects must be Aboriginal-led and work towards:
- Aligning with the Dhelk Dja Action Group goals and 10-year agreement - the Dhelk Dja: Safe Our Way
Strong Culture, Strong Peoples, Strong Families 5 Strategic Priorities, and Indigenous Family Violence Prevention Framework (2012) guiding principles - Strengthening local capacity to address family violence
- Providing ongoing or long-term community benefits
- Complimenting existing initiatives and fostering partnerships.
