The Victorian Government is delivering an immediate food relief package to support Victorians and the organisations who support them in recognition of rising costs.
The $2.7 million food relief package will help ensure these food relief providers and support organisations can continue providing vital support to Victorians in need.
Through this package, we’re delivering:
- $900,000 to Foodbank Victoria for frontline services
- $1.1 million to seven regional foodshares in Geelong, Bendigo, Shepparton, Mildura, Warrnambool, Moira Shie and the Regional Food Security Alliance
- $200,000 to OzHarvest to deliver more meals to families in need
- $200,000 to SecondBite and FareShare to rescue and redistribute surplus food
- $100,000 to Community Information & Support Victoria (CISVic), who are often a first point of contact, to continue delivering essential services.
Sikh organisations are already on the ground providing much-needed food relief to local families. Victorian Sikh Gurdwaras Council, Sikh Volunteers Australia, Gurduara Council of Victoria and Australian Sikh Support will share in $200,000 to continue their services.
This funding is a one-off funding boost, offering Victorians immediate relief while we continue working on long-term cost-of-living solutions.
