We’re proudly providing free pads and tampons in vending machines across Victoria. These machines have now dispensed more than 20,000 period products and counting! What a milestone.
Pads and tampons are not a luxury and everyone who needs them should be able to access them.
Since launching the free pads and tampons program in November 2024, we’ve installed 50 free pads and tampons vending machines in public places across metro Melbourne. By improving free access to the products people need, this program is supporting Victorians’ health and delivering cost of living relief.
Rolling out free pads and tampons vending machines across the state
The first phase of our nation-leading program is now complete, meaning we will soon be rolling out more machines across the whole of Victoria.
Throughout 2025, a further 1,450 machines will be installed at up to 700 locations statewide. These locations include:
- public hospitals
- TAFEs
- courts
- libraries
- staffed train stations
- major cultural institutions like Melbourne Museum and the National Gallery of Victoria.
All local government areas were consulted and requested to nominate venues to ensure coverage across the state.
