When children and young people get a say in the services, policies and programs designed to support them, it creates safer and more effective outcomes for everyone.
The Young Voices hub will support organisations to seek, listen to and act on the voices and experiences of children and young people.
Young Voices includes a range of practical tools, checklists and case studies that will help organisations:
- plan how to engage with children and young people
- understand the principles and important considerations for engaging with children and young people
- run participation activities with children and young people, from consultation to co-design.
Visit the Young Voices hub.
The hub also includes links to essential frameworks that have shaped it, such as the Client Voice Framework for Community Services, Victorian Child Safe Standards, and Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Many organisations helped shape Young Voices including the Commission for Children and Young People, the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare, Berry Street, and CREATE Foundation.
Young Voices will support the Victorian Government’s new Youth Strategy, which is putting young people’s experiences, needs and ideas at the centre of decisions across all areas of government. For more information, view the Youth Strategy.
Young Voices will also support delivery of the Roadmap for Reform: Strong Families, Safe Children, our key strategy to transform the child and family system.
If you have any questions or feedback about Young Voices, or would like to add a resource or good practice case study, please email the Community Services Quality and Safety Office.
