Launched on IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex discrimination and Transphobia), Victoria’s Rainbow Ready roadmap is a practical guide to support regional and rural communities in becoming more LGBTIQ+ inclusive.

The roadmap is a resource to help Victoria deliver on Pride in our future: Victoria’s LGBTIQ+ strategy 2022-32.

It is a step-by-step toolkit for building safe, strong and sustainable communities that are inclusive of LGBTIQ+ Victorians in regional and rural areas of our state. The roadmap includes tailored guides and practical tools to assess where communities are at with LGBTIQ+ inclusion, plan inclusive activities and evaluate progress.

Regional and rural councils, community groups, services and organisations are encouraged to use the Rainbow Ready roadmap to make communities safer, more welcoming and inclusive. They can use it to plan, monitor and evaluate their projects to show they support LGBTIQ+ Victorians.

The roadmap was created through extensive consultation and collaboration with LGBTIQ+ communities across Victoria, including through the LGBTIQ+ Equality Rural and Regional Roadshow. These communities continue to experience discrimination and stigma, and this can be heightened for those in rural and regional areas and further exacerbated by the limited access to support services and networks in those communities.

This roadmap is a vital resource to continue our great work to build a more inclusive Victoria. For more information visit the Rainbow Ready roadmap webpage.
