LGBTIQ+ youth safe spaces for Western Victoria grant program now open

A single grant of up to $2.85 million is available to establish physical safe spaces where LGBTIQ+ young people can connect and access health and mental wellbeing support.

Safe Spaces aims to provide LGBTIQ+ youth and their families in Western Victoria with a place-based response to mental health and wellbeing inequalities.

It will also support young LGBTIQ+ people to foster connections with peers and older LGBTIQ+ communities.

The program will fund physical hubs and ensures increased and safer access to:  

  • community connection 
  • mental health promotion
  • wellbeing
  • suicide prevention supports.

The successful applicant will receive funding in three phases from 2023 to 2025.
