Joan Kirner Emerging Leaders Program now open

Women aged 22 to 40 wanting to develop the critical skills, networks and experience they need to advance their leadership careers can apply for the Joan Kirner Emerging Leaders Program.
28 February 2022

The late Joan Kirner AC was Victoria’s first and only female premier and this program honours her legacy as a trailblazer for women in the public sphere.

The program aims to empower and support women to identify the leadership challenges they face, and develop practical skills and strategies to support their career progression. These challenges and barriers can include unconscious bias, gender stereotypes and a lack of workplace flexibility.

Delivered in partnership with Leadership Victoria, the six-week program provides an opportunity for women to take part in interactive learning development workshops, collaborative group work, structured networking and mentoring activities, and to hear from guest speakers shifting the perceptions of young women in leadership.

There are two rounds of the program, the first is open to women across all industries. The second round will focus on women in male-dominated and non-traditional industries.

We will support women to attend the program by reimbursing costs for childcare, accommodation and travel.

Opening and closing dates

Applications for the first round close on Monday 25 April 2022.

Applications for the second round open on 27 June 2022.
