Have your say on Victoria’s new social services regulations

Victorians are invited to have their say and help shape the regulation of social services in Victoria.
30 May 2023

The Victorian Government is making changes to the way social services are regulated in Victoria.

The Social Services Regulation Act 2021 establishes a new regulatory framework which will simplify registration and reporting requirements for social service providers, establish a set of standards and a single independent regulator.

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (the department) has developed draft social services regulations, which will complete the legal framework that the new regulator will operate in.

The draft regulations and the Regulatory Impact Statement are now open for public consultation. Your feedback will be used to inform the final regulations. The consultation will close midnight, Sunday 16 July 2023.

More information, including a copy of the draft regulations and the Regulatory Impact Statement, is available on Engage Victoria.

The department is hosting 2 online information sessions on Thursday 15 and Wednesday 21 June 2023. These sessions will give an overview of the regulatory impact statement and will explain the consultation process.
