Since 2001, close to 750 women have been honoured for their significant and lasting contributions to Victoria, Australia and beyond.
The Honour Roll recognises women for their achievements in a broad range of activities, including science, arts, environment, law, social justice, research, health, media and education.
These women come from all walks of life, and all have demonstrated inspirational leadership. Some forged new paths for women today by challenging outdated ideas of what a woman can do, while others are young women redefining what leadership is for the future.
The Honour Roll also brings outstanding women together with surprising and game-changing results. Professor Marilyn Fleer and Aishwarya Kansakar met at their induction ceremony in 2022 and realised they had a shared goal, the crucial need for STEM education for women and girls.
They worked together to create a world-first project that links early education with industry to teach complex STEM concepts through play, with adults and children entering an imaginary world to solve challenges together.
Celebrating the contributions of Victorian women like Marilyn and Ash is one way of progressing gender equality in our state.
By recognising these women publicly, we are showing girls and women what they can be – because if you can see it, you can be it.
Now it’s time to nominate for 2024. There are four categories:
Trailblazer - An inspiring role model leading the way for women in a traditionally male-dominated field.
Local Champion – An unsung hero whose voluntary or professional contributions to their community deserve wider recognition.
Change Agent - A woman who has made an enduring commitment to their field of expertise, interest or work that has brought about significant and lasting change.
Emerging Leader - A young woman redefining leadership in their chosen career, field or passion.
Nominations open on Monday 18 March 2024 and close on Sunday 5 May 2024.
The Office for Women is supporting potential nominators with an online information session on Tuesday 26 March 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
